Jailbreak iPhone 3GS: Using purplerain or Dev Team's updated redsnow


Dev Team has released updated versions of redsnow jailbreak and ultrasnow carrier unlock. These versions are now compatible with the iPhone 3GS running at 3.0.

They realeased these updated version just after purplera1n release was made. This tool can also be used to unlock the iphone 3GS. So now all the apple's iPhone buffs have the choice between purplerain and redsnow to jail break their iPhone.

For those who want to use iPhone Dev Team's Redsnow to jail break do the following steps
  • Download Redsnow 0.8 (redsn0w torrent seeds are in http://thepiratebay.org/user/iphonedev/)
  • Download the iPhone 3GS firmware
  • Extract the with WinRar(extract and make one file)
  • Open Redsnow and follow the onscreen instructions to jailbreak
  • Fire-up Cydia & add repo repo666.ultrasn0w.com
  • Install Ultrasnow
  • Restart your iPhone 3GS.
Purplerain has made available to all the Windows version as well as Mac version, so that everybody can jailbreak their iPhone 3GS.
  • Download Purplera1n
  • launch the downloaded application.
  • Click on Make it Run button
  • phone will go in recovery mode. This may take some time.
  • Purpera1n will run and it will reboot your iPhone.
  • After reboot, go to Springboard and press Freeze to continue.
  • Then click on Install Cydia.
  • Reboot your iPhone after the Cydia has been installed.
  • Now you can run cydia from springboard and you can install the necessary applications.
