Uninstalling Windows Media Player 11

One of the major flaw with Windows Media player 11 is that there is no uninstall option so it is not so easy and simple to uninstall it. Basically there are three different ways of uninstalling Windows Media Player 11

Solution 1.
  • Open the Add / remove program option from Control Panel.
  • Upon opening the Add / Remove Program section you will see a list of programs that have been installed on your computer.
  • In the top section of the Add / Remove program section you will see a small check box saying Show updates click on that.
  • Scroll down till you see Windows XP – Software Updates.Remove everything that is related to the Windows media player 11
And thats how you can uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and if this doesnt work for you follow Solution 2.

Solution 2:
  • Start the computer in safe mode. ( You can do that by restarting the computer and by pressing F8 while the computer is restarting.)
  • Click Safe Mode, and the press ENTER.
  • Go to Start -> Run and type "appwiz.cpl" ( dont type inverted commas "), and then click OK.
  • Click Windows Media Player 11, and then click Remove.
  • Follow the prompts to uninstall Windows Media Player 11, and then restart the computer when you are prompted.
If Windows Media Player 11 is not removed, try Solution 3.

Solution 3:
  • Click Start -> Run, type "%windir%\$ntUninstallwmp11$\spuninst\spuninst.exe" ( dont type inverted commas "), and then click OK.
  • Click Next, and then click Finish.
