You ever see that old movie Hellraiser? Yeah, the one with the guy with all the pins in his head. You might wonder why I’m making movie references in a review of a cell phone, but you’ll find it’s rather apt in describing the HTC Tilt 2.

The HTC Tilt 2 is a slider style smartphone that boasts the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system right out of the box. This in turn gives you immediate access to several Microsoft systems like Marketplace for Mobile and My Phone backup service. Also, you get mobile web, mobile email, conference call capability, speakerphone, voice recorder, Bluetooth connectivity, GPS, a 3.2 megapixel camera, alarm clock, calendar, calculator, MP3 player and a battery capable of generating seven and a half hours of talk time on a single charge.

There’s no doubt that the HTC Tilt 2 has a lot of amazing stuff in here, but you’re probably still wondering about my earlier metaphor. Why is this thing like Hellraiser, you wonder? Because the HTC Tilt 2 is EXACTLY like the puzzle box.

There are incredible things in here–in cell phone terms they’re absolute wonders–but getting into them is incredibly complex and difficult. The controls on the HTC Tilt 2 are also the greatest problem with the whole thing. I had a really tough time getting around on this thing, and that shocked me.

But once you finally manage to get around, the variety of things available here should solve most any problem you may happen to have that can be solved by a cell phone. The HTC Tilt 2 is an incredible phone that just can’t help but get in its own way.

What is GoogleCrashHandler.exe and how to remove it

People do get freaked out when they see an extreamly suspicious file "GoogleCrashHandler.exe" running on in the processes tab in Task manager and everybody gets a little worried at the thought of it being a virus or spyware of some sort ( i was included in this "everybody" till i read about it at google's support.

According to Google support

"GoogleCrashHandler.exe runs continuously on your computer if you’ve selected to send anonymous usage statistics and crash reports to Google for certain Google software, like Google Chrome. It helps send crash details to Google when your Google software unexpectedly shuts down. We use this data to help determine how to prevent these errors from happening in the future."

To stop GoogleCrashHandler.exe from running you need to turn off the sending of usage statistics and crash reports for all the Google softwares on your computer and if you want to get rid of it permanently you will have to uninstall Google update from your PC.

Uninstalling Windows Media Player 11

One of the major flaw with Windows Media player 11 is that there is no uninstall option so it is not so easy and simple to uninstall it. Basically there are three different ways of uninstalling Windows Media Player 11

Solution 1.

Open the Add / remove program option from Control Panel.
Upon opening the Add / Remove Program section you will see a list of programs that have been installed on your computer.
In the top section of the Add / Remove program section you will see a small check box saying Show updates click on that.
Scroll down till you see Windows XP – Software Updates.Remove everything that is related to the Windows media player 11

And thats how you can uninstall Windows Media Player 11 and if this doesnt work for you follow Solution 2.

Solution 2:

Start the computer in safe mode. ( You can do that by restarting the computer and by pressing F8 while the computer is restarting.)
Click Safe Mode, and the press ENTER.
Go to Start -> Run and type "appwiz.cpl" ( dont type inverted commas "), and then click OK.
Click Windows Media Player 11, and then click Remove.
Follow the prompts to uninstall Windows Media Player 11, and then restart the computer when you are prompted.

If Windows Media Player 11 is not removed, try Solution 3.

Solution 3:

Click Start -> Run, type "%windir%\$ntUninstallwmp11$\spuninst\spuninst.exe" ( dont type inverted commas "), and then click OK.
Click Next, and then click Finish.

Intel announces new 34nm SSD the X25-M

Intel announced that it is moving to a more advanced, 34nm manufacturing process for its leading NAND flash-based Solid State Drive (SSD) products. According to Intel, the move to 34nm can lower the prices of the X25-M SSDs up to 60%. With the announcement, the chip maker has become the first in the industry to provide computer users with a 34nm-based SSD, delivering increased performance, improved latency and a lower price tag, making it more affordable to a wider public.

The new X25-M 80GB has a new price of $225 for quantities up to 1,000 units (a 60% reduction from the original introduction price of $595 a year ago) and the 160GB version is priced at $440 (down from $945 at introduction) for quantities up to 1,000 units.The X25-M comes in a standard 2.5-inch form factor. The X18-M, in a 1.8-inch form factor, will begin shipping on 34nm later in the quarter.

Microsoft: Fighting on many fronts

Microsoft has been facing challenges from many of its competetors including Adobe and Google. Just few months ago Adobe released a Flash-based Media Player called Adobe Media Player, which is an online and offline player that is capable of tagging, rating, and sharing videos. Google also tried to challenge the monoply of Microsoft's Internet Explorer by launching Chrome, though it failed to cause any serious damage to Internet Explorer's Market share. Well the rumor of google launching an Operating System has turned out to be true. People had been waiting for this OS since google launched its browser chrome and their wait ends now. Google has finally announced its plans to launch its new operating system. But this operating system would unlike other operating systems. It would be in reality an operating system of new era, an internet OS. It would change the perception of how an operating system should be like.

Chrome OS would be a hybrid OS and browser. According to google it will run software created using web techologies and in one blog post their executives wrote

"Google Chrome OS is an open source, lightweight operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks. Later this year we will open-source its code, and netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010. Because we're already talking to partners about the project, and we'll soon be working with the open source community, we wanted to share our vision now so everyone understands what we are trying to achieve.

"Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We're designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don't have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work."

This revolutionary OS can be a great threat to OS giant Microsoft. But it has to be seen wether people are ready for this new OS and is the timing right to bring such a revolutionary technology. As many great products have failed in the past due to the fact they were ahead of their times.

Foxit PDF Reader: Smaller and Faster

Foxit PDF Reader is a free PDF reader which has small size and uses minimum resources. Its latest version is 3.75MB in size. It is easy to use and portable PDF reader which is quite faster than the Adobe reader. It provides all the basic functionality a user needs and has quite a lot of features and few add-ons that can fulfill the requirements a common user. With firefox plugin users can view and work with PDF files loaded in Foxit Reader with Firefox web browser.

The ad-banners it displays may be annoying to some and also a major problem with it is that the hyperlinks in some PDF documents which are otherwise fully capable of rendering are un-clickable.

But overall its a quite good software for viewing PDF's and also many of the bugs have been removed in the newer version.

Mozilla has unleashed the latest version of Firefox and people are going crazy for it. Its faster than ever before and its javascript engine has made this possible. This makes it significantly faster than its major competitor Internet Explorer 8 and enables it to compete with faster Safari 4 and Chrome.

Private Browsing or the porn mode makes it special because this can help people use the net with complete freedom as it covers all the tracks for you by erasing stored sessions, cookies, history and temporary files. Other features that would interest everybody are embeddable fonts, new video and audio processing components and tags, support for HTML 5 storage, and geo location targeting.

But there are some down sides to it too which include the number of discovered bugs and its incompatibility with number of older add-ons
